Our expertise

Our main ambition is to reinvent architectural design methods in the age of data and artificial intelligence, while promoting low-impact environmental practices. The Chair's expertise combines engineering, architecture and digital technology, and is organised around four strategic research areas.
01

Artificial Intelligence for Architecture

The Chair is developing an observatory dedicated to artificial intelligence applied to architecture and real estate. It focuses on collecting, archiving and analysing building-related data in order to better understand the impact of AI on professional practices and design processes.

02

Augmented Architectural Design

This area focuses on developing decision-support tools that integrate architectural data, uses, regulations and environmental constraints, as well as generative design, parametric design, neuro-architecture, atmosphere design and alternative construction systems. The aim is to reimagine design methods and improve the quality of the spaces we create.

Rethinking Our Relationship with Resources and Ecosystems

The Chair is engaged in an in-depth reflection on our relationship with resources and ecosystems. It works on identifying and geolocating local material resources, and experiments with reuse processes, low-carbon construction strategies and bio-inspired materials. It analyses the potential of AI for reuse and the circular economy, as well as building life-cycle assessment (LCA), in order to reduce the environmental impact of architecture throughout its entire life cycle.

Augmenting Reality

The Chair works on digital surveys and 3D modelling for building management and maintenance. The aim is to better understand, maintain and transform existing buildings using digital tools.
